Video Recipe: Smoked Fish Pate

A few months ago, when I was just a blogging baby (which arguably I still am), I spent a day filming some of my recipes in action. It’s taken me until now to begin posting these because, you know, sharing video of yourself cooking is a lot scarier than just putting pen to paper.

The first is a couple of smoked fish pates – I’ve done one salmon and one white fish. It seemed to me that this was a really simple starter to pull together, something that can really be adapted to suit your own tastes. Like more lemon? Add more. Need more heat? Chop through a chilli. All the ingredients get thrown in a food processor, pulsed to combine, then served with bread or crackers.

400g hot smoked salmon
100g cream cheese
Juice and zest of a lemon
2 tablespoons dill
1 tablespoon finely chopped capers
salt/pepper to taste

  1. Combine all ingredients except capers and salt/pepper in a food processor
  2. Mix through chopped capers and season to taste



300g smoked fish (I used trevally)
200g cream cheese
1 tablespoons horseradish sauce
Juice and zest of a lemon
1/4 cup parsley leaves
salt/pepper to taste

  1. Blend together all ingredients until combined in a food processor
  2. Season to taste
